About Chalet Sicoria ...
Location, location, location - this 3 star chalet is just 300m from the beautiful Alpine village of Chinaillon so it's a short stroll to pick up bread in the morning, or to a restaurant at the end of the day.
The ski bus stops just 50m away, and it's only 800m to the pistes. The views are fabulous too, overlooking the slopes from the front of the chalet, or the old village of Chinaillon, with its historic chapel and traditional chalets with wood shingle roofs, from the new terrace at the side of the house.
You won't need a car here, as the ski bus links the village with the other ski stations of Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod.
Totally refurbished, Chalet Sicoria sleeps 11 people, and is the perfect choice for a large group of family or friends looking to immerse themselves in Alpine life, whatever the time of year. The owner Muriel, who grew up in Chinaillon, is based nearby and is happy to offer help and advice.
Our partner shop Rêves d'Hiver can deliver your skis to the chalet, come to the property to help you choose your equipment or even pick you up and drive you to their shop to benefit from their professional advice. Discounts and free ski store available.
The property ...
Built in 2009 and totally refurbished for winter 2013, this appealing 3 star chalet sleeps 11 people in five bedrooms over three floors.
There's a double bedroom and a bedroom with bunks, as well as a shower room, on the ground floor. Upstairs, there's a double room as well as a room with three single beds and a bathroom. The final bedroom is on the lower ground floor, with a shower room, the sauna and the laundry room.
There’s a spacious kitchen and dining area with wood burner on the first floor, as well as a cosy living room. The balcony opens on to the new terrace and both boast spectacular views across to the pistes and mountain pastures - the perfect place to enjoy a drink in the evening.
Another popular new addition is the sauna, where you can unwind after a day on the slopes or walking on the mountain trails. All that fresh air is bound to give you an appetite, and the spacious kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast. After dinner, the cosy leather sofas invite you to relax and plan another perfect day in the mountains.
About the area ...
The ski lift is just 500m from Chalet Sicoria, but it’s just as easy to take the ski bus, which stops 100m from the chalet every 15 minutes.
An Aravis ski pass covers all the Lake Annecy ski resorts - more than 200km of perfect pistes. If you fancy a change, why not try the sledge run or the nearby cross-country ski piste. Beginners to this sport can test their ski legs at the Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains, while boarders will appreciate the Snowpark.
Non-skiers can go ice-skating in Grand Bornand or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides. At the end of a busy day, head back to Chalet Sicoria for a pre-dinner sauna, or head into the village for dinner.
In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains around Chalet Sicoria, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office in Chinaillon.
There’s a fantastic swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics, but if you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
The medieval town of Annecy is a must for a day out, whatever the season. It offers a unique mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, and Lake Annecy, said to be the cleanest lake in Europe, is a great place for watersports, swimming, or cycling.
August sees the International Children’s Festival in Le Grand Bornand - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale. You’re in the heart of Reblochon country, so on your travels don’t forget to pick up some of this delicious cheese from a local farm or market.
If you love the idea of a holiday in the French Alps, based at Chalet Sicoria, check our calendar to see when the property is free. We can hold your dates for 24 hours if you need a little time to finalise your plans. But don't wait too long - this is a popular choice with our guests.

Honest property review
From the owner
Looking after guests is a well established family tradition!
My parents have been welcoming paying guests to " Les Congères" or "the Snowdrift", a nearby property which my father built himself, since 1965 So looking after guests is a well established family tradition!
The property was named "Snowdrift" because of the vast amounts of snow which used to surround the isolated farms every winter in Chinaillon at that time. My brother and I took over the family business a couple of years ago with the idea of upgrading the accommodation on offer, and we feel we have achieved this aim.
Chalet Sicoria is conveniently located close to absolutely everything: the old village, the more modern resort, shops, restaurants, the slopes, cross country trails, activities, walking trails etc etc… Park your car on arrival and then forget about it for the rest of your holiday!
The views across to the slopes from the inside of the chalet are stunning, and since earlier on this year you can also enjoy a different and equally beutiful across to the old centre of the village and mountains beyond from the new wooden terrace to the west side of the chalet.
We have refurbished Chalet Sicoria with care, and using our experience of what makes a great holiday rental property, and we sincerely hope you will enjoy quality time here with your friends and family. We are on hand close by to offer help and advice if you need it and an insider's knowledge of all there is to see and do, and look forward to welcoming you soon. Muriel Bernard

This is a lovely chalet to stay in, and very clean. There were 11 of us and we all had our own space. The bedding is really comfortable! Everything we needed was there. The chalet is well located with plenty of walks nearby.

“An exceptional holiday in a very pleasant chalet”
An exceptional holiday in a very pleasant chelat
We loved the space, the cleanliness and all everything that was there. Apart from a pair of scissors, there was nothing lacking! We will be back. It's a delight to explore all the little villages and the Alpine farms.

“An excellent holiday”
A cosy and pleasant chalet with plenty of space and superb views. We loved the village centre and the incredible peace and quiet. The local people were warm and helpful - what more could you want?
— Thierry D. Mar 2018
Great place well suited for three families, close to the bus and the village. From the website we thought the place would be smaller!
The resort has excellent offering for all, still traditional but with everything we wanted.
— Jacob H. Feb 2018
“A very lovely chalet”
We had an excellent holiday. The chalet itself is really lovely. Contact with the chalet managers was always positive. We really loved the large living space, the attention to detail, the style of the chalet, and the sauna. The chalet is close to shops and restaurants, which is a real advantage. The only issue is the proximity of the road.
— Christophe H. Jan 2018

— Gagliano M. Dec 2017
“Comfortable, great location”
We liked the comfort of this rental and its great location within the resort. It was ideal to follow the biathlon competition.
— Pascal M. Dec 2017
— Jerome G. Aug 2017
“We had a very nice stay.”
Everything was perfect - the level of comfort and the layout. Our children and grandchildren were delighted. Perhaps we will visit this chalet again - or maybe a different one!
— Christine G. Apr 2017
“We would have no hesitation in booking again.”
We had a great time in a very comfortable chalet in a great location. Muriel was very helpful during booking and even helped us with some shopping that we had delivered in advance of our arrival. Le Chinaillon is a lovely ski resort with runs that my 6 year old daughter can ski easily, & good restaurants that are great value for money.
— Alison B. Mar 2017

We stayed in Chalet Sicoria in Chinaillon in August. The property is very comfortable and lacks nothing. It has everything you need for a lovely holiday. It is perfectly situated and there is plenty to do in the village. There are walking trails just 500m from the chalet - we recommend it!

“We had a wonderful week in Chalet Sicoria”
We were 3 families of 6 adults and 5 children with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The older children especially loved their bedrooms with the TV and Wii games. We cooked most evenings and found the kitchen to be very well equipped for our needs. Weather was beautiful during our week and what a view to wake up to each morning on the balcony. We loved the town of Chinaillon and the chalet was in a great location to walk to the local shops and bakery. The skiing was wonderful and lots of different runs for all levels plus it was so easy to get to the slopes either on the bus or walking. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and can't wait to return again next year. Thank you Muriel for making us feel so welcome even though we don't speak much French!
— Joanne O. Mar 2016
“Another wonderful stay in Chinaillon.”
Chalet Sicoria is in a wonderful position close to the town and the ski bus stop. We had plenty of space and we were very comfortable. The kitchen/diner was well equipped, we really loved the wood burner it made the room so cosy.

— Anne-Marie M. Jan 2016
We spent a week in August 2015 in this perfect chalet. It reached all our highest expectations in terms of quality, calm and service.
— Didier V. Aug 2015
Two sunny weeks, very warm but a chalet which stayed cool. The place is really lovely. Chinaillon is the base for lots of trips (Mont Blanc, Morzine ...). As for the chalet, it was just the best. The owners were really kind and helpful - 10 out of 10! To future guests -have a great holiday.
— Fabrice M. Jul 2015
An excellent long weekend with our children and grandchildren in a chalet which is big enough to accommodate the number of people catered for by the bedrooms.
— Jean-Paul H. Jun 2015
“We spent fantastic moments with our friends”
This was by far the best property we have rented for a weekend with friends. Everything was so comfortable - cute bedrooms, an excellent sauna, great living area - everything we needed. And the area is beautiful! The chalet is charming, modern, clean and easy to live in, and very quiet at night. Finally, the bedlinen and towels are provided and the cleaning is included - don't change a thing! As for the area, it has nature, views, walks and Reblochon - a big favourite.
— Mikael B. May 2015
“A well designed chalet”
A great week-end despite the rain!
